Job Description:
The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) or articulated trailer truck for the transport and delivery of goods across Ireland and other assigned routes. The driver ensures timely delivery, adheres to traffic and safety regulations, and maintains the vehicle in excellent working condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and drive articulated or rigid trucks to transport goods to various destinations within Ireland and occasionally across Europe.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspection of vehicle and cargo.
- Ensure cargo is properly secured and complies with load safety standards.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, logbooks, and necessary transport documentation.
- Comply with all road safety regulations, EU driving hours, and tachograph laws.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or delays immediately.
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning as needed to keep vehicle in good condition.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid EC (Category CE) driving license.
- Valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum 2–3 years of professional truck driving experience (articulated or trailer type).
- Good knowledge of Irish and EU road safety regulations.
- Ability to read and follow delivery instructions, route maps, and manifests.
- Physically fit and able to handle long hours of driving.
- Good communication and time management skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in long-haul or cross-border transport.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Clean driving record and strong sense of responsibility.
